Transy/Transit House

I was wondering if anyone might have anything regarding Transy/Transit House in Dunfermline? My late husband’s Kirk family – Robert Kirk specifically, lived in Transy House in Dunfermline. He died there about 1860. I’ve been told it’s now the Garvock House Hotel. I did a Google search and found the hotel, and a picture, but there wasn’t much for the history of the place.
Many thanks June

  1. June, there’s no indication how old your post is but I have a similar question, also relating to Robert Kirk.

    1. June,
Robert died at Transey House on 1 Feb 1860, and I’m about to start researching the history of the house.

      Ruth,
      How can I help?

  2. I am also interested in the history of the former Transy House. Robert died , as Susie said, 1st of February 1860. His wife, Margaret (Bowie) also died at Transy in 1857. Robert and Margaret are my 3x great- grandparents. Plan to visit Scotland next April and hope to stay at the now Garvock House Hotel.
